Dixon Walter have supported The University of Sheffield to appoint the key role of Director of IT. Following a thorough campaign we are delighted to announce that Bella Abrams was the successful candidate. Bella will join the University on 7 January 2019 from Sheffield College, where she is currently Chief Information Officer.

Sarah Campbell has been appointed as the University of Exeter’s first Associate Director for Arts and Culture. Currently Head of Learning Programmes and Deputy Director for Learning and National at the V&A, Ms Campbell will join the University from January 2019.

Dr. Lois Mansfield has been appointed as Director of Ambleside campus at the University of Cumbria. A published expert in upland farming Dr. Mansfield is a respected voice of authority on farming, the environment and rural management. For 20 years she has worked in higher education in Cumbria most recently as principal lecturer in forestry, conservation and geography.

The University of Manchester has appointed Christopher Pressler as its new University Librarian and Director of The John Rylands Library. Christopher will join the university on 1 February 2019, from Dublin City University (DCU), where he is currently University Librarian and Director of the Irish Modern Archives Research Centre.

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) has appointed Colin Bezenar as Chief Operating Officer. Colin will join the ACU in January 2019 from his current role as Director, Global Experiences at London Business School.

Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon has been appointed Chief Executive of Herefordshire’s future university with immediate effect. Elena is also acting CEO and Provost at the New Model in Technology and Engineering.

The University of Law (ULaw) has announced the appointment of Matthew Tomlinson as Dean of the University’s Leeds campus. Matthew qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and he then went on to work in the legal profession. In 2013, Matthew returned to ULaw as a lecturer and served as the Programme and Student Lead for GDL and LLB in Leeds.

David Gillham has taken up the role of the University of Reading’s interim Commercial Director, in addition to his responsibilities at Thames Valley Science Park. The Commercial Director is a new role with the responsibility to deliver a commercial strategy that helps the University enhance its income from non-academic activities.

The University of Sussex has appointed Dr. Sue Baxter as the new Director of Innovation and Business Partnerships. Sue will join Sussex early in the new year from the University of Brighton, where has been Director of Research, Enterprise and Social Partnerships since 2016.

Alice Benton appointed Head of Education Services at the University of Cambridge. Alice joined the University administration in 1989 and is currently Head of Education and Student Policy.

The University of Bristol has appointed a new Dean for the Faculty of Engineering. Professor Ian Bond, currently Head of the University’s School of Civil, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, will step up to the new role in August 2019.

University of Roehampton has appointed Professor Jean-Noël Ezingeard as its new Vice-Chancellor. Professor Ezingeard is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and will join Roehampton on 1 May 2019.

Ayrshire College has announced Carol Turnbull as the new principal and chief executive. Ms Turnbull will take over from Principal Heather Dunk who announced her retirement earlier this year. Ms Turnbull has been principal and chief executive of Dumfries and Galloway College since August 2012.

Karen Watt has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Scottish Funding Council (FSC). Watt is currently the Scottish Government’s director of external affairs, will take up the role on 14 January 2019.

Tristan Alltimes has been appointed as the new Deputy Director for Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving in DARO at Durham University. Tristan joined the university in his new role with 16+ years of experience working in advancement, latterly as the Director of Alumni Relations at Melbourne Business School.

Durham University have also appointed Stephen Willis as their new Chief Financial Officer. Stephen is currently Chief Financial Officer at the University of Hull and has a proven record of success within the higher education and private sectors. He will take up his new role in April 2019.
