The University of Salford is a vibrant organisation with ambition to play a leading role in shaping the next generation of interaction between itself, our students and colleagues and industry. Our vision is to lead the way in real world experiences that prepare students for life. Working with industry is in our DNA.
Along with the rest of the higher education sector, we are looking to a future of unprecedented change. Our people are, and will be, central to our success. As a member of the Vice Chancellor’s team, our Executive Director of HR and OD will lead an exciting, innovative, yet challenging people agenda as well as playing a key role in driving the strategic objectives of the University. You will provide leadership, experience and wisdom in the implementation of our People Plan and will be instrumental in delivering a range of strategic priorities, whilst also ensuring improvements to our operational effectiveness. This is a role with a wide remit and you will need to be able to flex between strategic leadership and the drive for operational change, finding ways through the challenges and opportunities that we will meet during the next phase of our strategy.
To apply you must be a senior HR professional with significant experience of leading a large HR team within a complex and diverse organisation. You will have driven a wide and varied HR strategic agenda, led, shaped and delivered change, and built constructive relationships with trade union or colleague representatives. You will have an appreciation of the current dynamics and trends of the UK higher education environment and an understanding of the key factors and issues. As someone with a business-like mindset and the ability to build credible relationships and influence thinking, you will be able to work at pace, inspire confidence and lead with a vision. Most importantly you will be ambitious for our future, bring new ideas and want to make a positive impact.
This is a great time to join us and a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of our human resources and our HR team to take the ambition of the University forward.
At Salford we are flexible in our approach to working, focussing on great outcomes and behaviours. We also want our colleagues to reflect the diversity in our campus so welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds who can demonstrate a passion for higher education.
