The University is seeking a Head of Health and Safety who will help implement these commitments through innovation and strong delivery.
This is an exciting time for a talented health and safety professional to join a forward-thinking organisation with a broad portfolio. Working collaboratively, the Head of Health and Safety will be expected to proactively develop effective working relationships with members of the University Executive Team, Deans of Schools, Service Directors, Trade Union Representatives and other relevant members of staff within the University.
Reporting to the Director of Estates, the Head of Health and Safety will provide strategic leadership of the centralised Health and Safety function within the University. The post holder will be the University’s senior advisor on all Health and Safety related matters and will develop, maintain and promote safe systems of work across a broad spectrum of activity within approved risk management and assurance frameworks. You will demonstrate strong leadership and influence and be adept at building inter disciplinary relationships across all stakeholder groups.
The successful candidate will be a high calibre professional with a strong technical background and a Chartered Membership of a national health and safety body. You will have the gravitas to be a trusted advisor to the corporate leadership team on statutory compliance and best practice. Your approach to health and safety management will be proactive and collaborative with demonstrable skills in leading, coaching and motivating staff ideally from within a University environment.
