Following a successful search by Dixon Walter, Glasgow Caledonian University appoint Director of Future Students, Marketing and Communications (FSM&C).

The FSM&C directorate is responsible for the recruitment and admission of UK and international students for our Glasgow and London campuses, marketing and student communications, and wider media and corporate communications.

Karen joins from Manchester Metropolitan University where she is Director of Recruitment and Admissions.  She has more than two decades of experience in Higher Education, holding roles across a number of Professional Services functions both centrally and in academic faculties and departments.  Prior to her role at Manchester Metropolitan University, she was at The University of Manchester.

Karen has also been a member of Manchester Metropolitan’s Board of Governors, a role she held for five years, and is a graduate of The University of East Anglia, where she studied English History. She will begin her new role at Glasgow Caledonian University on August 1.

Karen said: “I am delighted to be joining Glasgow Caledonian University as Director of Future Students, Marketing and Communications, and am really looking forward to working with the team and colleagues across the institution in delivering the University’s ambitions and vision.”

Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Susan Mitchell said: “Karen is a great appointment, and I am delighted to welcome her to our University community. She has a great wealth of experience and will be a fantastic colleague, working collaboratively across the University to support delivery of our strategy. I’m sure all staff will join me in wishing her well.”

The winners of the AUDE Awards for 2024 were announced at the association’s annual conference at Northumbria University on 17 April 2024. As ever the standard of the nominations was so strong, and to find one winner amongst such high quality submissions was extremely tough for our judges. Nevertheless a winner there must be, and in eight categories! Every single participant should be very proud, for the work done as well as the initiative and energy and drive shown, and we hope they will feel boosted for the whole of the coming year by the acknowledgement from their peers of the great work involved. Gold, silver and bronzes prizes were awarded as shown below

The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) has appointed Mike Baxter as executive director of finance.
Mike will work with UHI’s senior executive team and with colleagues across the partnership to provide strategic financial direction, harnessing financial resources and performance data to deliver UHI’s financial sustainability ambitions as articulated in the 2030 strategic plan.
