West Dean appoints Professor Laura Peters as Vice-Principal, and Ian Pleace as Director of Finance

Dixon Walter recently supported West Dean with the appointment of two key senior roles. Following an extensive search process we are pleased to see the announcement made by West Dean and wish Laura and Ian the best of luck in these new posts – we cant wait to see what the future holds for West Dean!

West Dean is pleased to announce two key senior appointments as it strengthens its leadership team and looks to the future.
Professor Laura Peters joins as Vice-Principal, bringing with her extensive experience in academic leadership and a deep commitment to the arts and humanities. Most recently Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, Academic Development and Transformation at the University of Roehampton, Laura has led institutional strategy across research, teaching, and academic transformation. Her background spans the arts and humanities, with a strong track record in partnership-building with leading cultural organisations including the BBC, the British Council, and Battersea Arts Centre. She has published widely in Victorian literature and culture. Laura advocates for women in leadership through her work with Advance HE’s Aurora programme.
Ian Pleace joins as Director of Finance, bringing over 30 years of financial and strategic expertise across the higher education, charity, media and publishing sectors. A Chartered Accountant who began his career with Deloitte, Ian has previously acted as Director of Finance for BBC Nations & Regions, Goldsmiths College and the University of Roehampton, where he led major transformation programmes. He also brings a personal passion for the arts and heritage, serving as a Trustee of Whitechapel Gallery and Vice Chair of the National Tramway Museum.
These appointments mark a significant step in West Dean’s journey as we continue to evolve our academic and financial strategies to support excellence in teaching, conservation, and creativity. Both Laura and Ian will formally take up their roles on 1 August 2025.

The James Hutton Institute is excited to announce the appointment of Anne Corbin as our new Chief Financial Officer.
Anne joins the Hutton from social care charity VSA, where she has worked since 2019, serving as CFO since 2021. A fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, she has 25 years of experience working in finance, and has led teams focusing on procurement, financial operations and a number of other corporate services. Anne’s main areas of focus are financial resilience, good governance, and social responsibility, and she plans to continue promoting these principles through her work at the Hutton.

John brings a wealth of experience from hospitality, sport and education.
