Keele University is a world class campus-based research-led university committed to providing the highest quality learning and research environment in which our students and staff can flourish. The University is renowned for its exciting approach to education, innovative research, external engagement, beautiful campus, commitment to sustainability, strong community and excellent student experience.  We are proud to say that we have a diverse, inclusive and global community, and strongly believe that every individual deserves respect. Our strength comes from our diversity.

In furtherance of our aim to embed equity, diversity and inclusion into all that we do, we are now seeking to appoint an experienced professional to provide strategic and operational leadership to the delivery of the University’s EDI Strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, you will play a lead role in delivering the University’s ambitions to become an inclusive place to work and study, and in  creating an environment where everyone can succeed.

This is a new role for the university and therefore presents an exciting opportunity to shape what we do and have real impact.  You will lead the development and delivery of strategic actions and commitments to EDI; ensure the provision of high-quality expert advice; develop and deliver positive initiatives to enhance equity; and ultimately facilitate a coherent and connected approach to EDI where good practice is shared and celebrated.

To apply, you will have a deep understanding of equalities and how EDI can be advanced, with particular expertise in furthering race equality in a complex organisation. You will have detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and demonstrable experience of using data and evidence to inform decision-making and of developing and embedding policy. As someone who has experience of working in a team leadership position, you will have excellent people management, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and student representatives from across the university.  With an open and collaborative style, you will have a willingness to bring people together to discuss ideas and shared experiences, with the ability to influence and drive change.

Keele University values equality and diversity across its workforce and to ensuring its staff community is reflective of the diversity of its student population. In support of these commitments the University welcomes applications from individuals of Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds for all roles.
